ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The LSU women’s tennis team is set to begin its highly-competitive spring season on Friday as the Lady Tigers compete in the inaugural Michigan Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
“It’s going to be good to get our team back on the court again,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “All of our players have had a good holiday break and now they’re eager to play at a competitive level again. We’re going to be facing some stiff competition this weekend and that will be beneficial for us heading into the dual-match season.”
In addition to the Lady Tigers, the five-team tournament field will consist of players from Eastern Michigan, Kansas, Michigan and Wisconsin. The three-day competition begins at 7 a.m. (CST) at the Michigan Varsity Courts on Friday and continues Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. daily.
“This will be a good tool for us as a coaching staff to see how well our players have developed over the fall,” Minnis said. “There are going to be a lot of talented players in this tournament and it will be interesting to see how we stack up against them.”
