Yarno Leaves Football Team; Harbison Moves to Admin Role

BATON ROUGE — LSU offensive line coach George Yarno has left the football program for personal reasons, while defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison will move into an administrative role with the team, head coach Nick Saban announced on Monday.

Yarno, who just completed his second season on the staff, has decided to seek employment closer to his hometown in Idaho. Harbison’s move from the field to an administrative capacity is for personal reasons as well.

“Charlie did an outstanding job for this program for two years and we wanted him to remain a member of the LSU family,” Saban said. “Charlie could not continue to recruit and put in the time it takes to be successful as a coach with his personal obligations. This is a much better situation for Charlie and his family.”

During his two years on the field with the Tigers, Harbison coached an LSU defensive backfield that ranked among both the national and Southeastern Conference leaders in pass defense in 2002 by allowing only 152.7 yards passing a contest.
