LSU Ranked Fifth in the Nation in Football Attendance

BATON ROUGE — For the third straight season, LSU ranked fifth in the nation in average attendance for its home football games.

The Tigers averaged 90,307 for seven games in Tiger Stadium, the second-highest average in school history. LSU’s per-game average ranked second in the Southeastern Conference and trailed only Michigan (110,576), Penn State (107,239), Tennessee (106,705) and Ohio State (103,488) nationally.

LSU drew a total of 632,147 fans for its seven home games, the fifth-highest national total and the second-highest total in school history. LSU set school-records for average attendance (90,491) and total attendance (633,440) in 2001.

Since the NCAA began taking attendance figures in 1957, LSU has ranked among the top 10 in the nation in average attendance in 40 of the 45 years, including six of the last seven seasons.
