BATON ROUGE — LSU’s second-ranked Lady Tigers host No. 15 Penn State in the seventh-annual Pack the PMAC on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The game will be televised nationally on CBS as part of a daylong women’s basketball tripleheader.

Tickets for the game are $1 and fans are encouraged to get to the arena early.

LSU (11-0) is coming off a 74-43 victory at North Texas on Thursday night, while Penn State (10-2, 1-0 Big 10) won at Wisconsin in the conference opener on Thursday.

Freshman Seimone Augustus leads the Lady Tigers into the game. She is scoring 14.2 points per game, while senior center Aiysha Smith is next with 11.2 points per contest. Senior DeTrina White leads LSU in rebounding, pulling down 8.4 boards a game.

Junior guard Kelly Mazzante leads the Lady Lions. One of the nation’s best scorers, Mazzante is posting 27.2 points per game, while fellow guard Tanisha Wright is scoring 17.8 points per outing.

The game will also pit of the game’s best coaches against each other with LSU’s Sue Gunter, in her 21st season in Baton Rouge, against PSU’s Rene Portland, in her 23rd year at Happy Valley. Gunter is four wins shy of 400 at LSU and has 662 career wins overall, while Portland is 518 victories at PSU and 605 in her career.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. Penn State leads the series 2-1, including 86-52 victory over LSU in St. Thomas in 2000.

Following the game LSU will begin Southeastern Conference play when they visit Auburn at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
