Lady Tigers Travel to Take on North Texas

DENTON, Texas — LSU’s second-ranked women’s basketball team hits the road for the first time in over a month when they visit North Texas on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Super Pit.

The Lady Tigers (10-0) are coming off a home victory over then 15th-ranked Texas last Saturday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Aiysha Smith led the way with 19 points, while DeTrina White added 16 points and 12 rebounds for her third double double of the season.

North Texas (4-5) is coming off a loss at Baylor earlier in the week. The Lady Eagles started the season with three straight victories, but have since dropped four of their last five games.

Freshmen Seimone Augustus leads LSU into the game. The 6-1 guard is averaging 14.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Smith follows with 10.7 points per contest, while White is posting 10.2 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per outing.

This is just the second meeting between the two teams. LSU won the other game 87-52 in Baton Rouge during the 2000-01 season.

Following the game the Lady Tigers return to Baton Rouge to host nationally ranked Penn State at 11 a.m. on Saturday for Pack the PMAC VII. Fans are encouraged to redeem their coupons for the $1 tickets for the game starting Thursday.
