LSU Accepts Bid to Face Texas in 2003 SBC Cotton Bowl

Full Schedule of Events Set For Tigers in Dallas

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s trip to Dallas for the SBC Cotton Bowl will culminate on Jan. 1 when the Tigers face ninth-ranked Texas at 10 a.m. on the football field.

However, prior to LSU’s first game against the Longhorns in 40 years, the Tigers will get to enjoy first-hand some of the attractions that Dallas has to offer.

LSU arrives in Dallas on Dec. 26 and following a 4 p.m. practice in Texas Stadium, the Tigers will head to the West End Marketplace for a night of all-you-can eat barbeque along with a fun-filled evening of video games and shopping.

The Tigers practice at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 27 with a visit to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital on the schedule after the workout. LSU will also attend the Lawry’s Beef Bowl that afternoon where the Tigers will be treated to an all-you-can eat prime rib dinner.

On the morning of Dec. 28, LSU senior center John Young will be one of the featured speakers at the FCA Cotton Bowl Breakfast at the Wyndham Anatole. LSU will practice at 10:30 a.m. at Texas Stadium. Later that night, LSU will be in attendance as the Dallas Mavericks host the New York Knicks in an NBA contest at American Airlines Arena.

The Tigers will again practice at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 29 with “A Night with Arli$$” scheduled for 7 p.m. at the McFarlin Auditorium on the SMU campus. Robert Wuhl, a critically acclaimed actor who has had roles in “Bull Durham”, “Batman”, and “Good Morning Vietnam” as well as the HBO series “Arli$$”, will entertain both teams.

The Tigers practice at 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 30 with Tiger Sportsline radio show and Inside LSU Football with Nick Saban television show both taking place later that day at the Reunion Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency. The radio show starts at 6 p.m. followed by the television show at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to attend both shows.

LSU will have its customary walk-thru on Dec. 31 at the Cotton Bowl. Kickoff for the Cotton Bowl between LSU and Texas is set for 10:10 a.m. on Jan. 1. The game will be televised to a national audience on Fox, LSU’s first-ever appearance on the network. LSU still has a limited number of tickets available to the Cotton Bowl.
