BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team puts a 14-year home winning streak against Louisiana schools on the line Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. as the Tigers play host to McNeese State University at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The game is the first of a day-night doubleheader at the Assembly Center as the second-ranked Lady Tigers will take on Alabama State at 7 p.m. The arena will be cleared between games, but there will be a band playing outside the Assembly Center starting at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the men’s game are available at the upper concourse ticket office of the Assembly Center beginning at 1 p.m. at $10 each. There is no television for the contest, but the radio broadcast will be available in Louisiana on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net.

LSU hasn’t lost to a Louisiana school in the Assembly Center since Dec. 6, 1988, when Louisiana Tech beat LSU, 111-109, in overtime. Two nights later, Dec. 8, 1988, LSU began what is now a 40-game streak, narrowly defeating McNeese State, 91-89, to start the present streak.

LSU also has a home streak of non-conference wins of 39 games that dates back to December of 1997.

The Tigers are coming off a strong 65-44 win over Delaware State on Tuesday at the Assembly Center. Ronald Dupree had 18 points on eight-of-nine field goal shooting and Antonio Hudson had 12 points.

McNeese is 3-1 on the season under second-year coach Tic Price, coming off a 102-63 win over Loyola (N. O.) on Monday in Lake Charles. Damond Williams leads the Cowboys averaging 12.2 points per game, while Jason Coleman is averaging 11.2 a contest.

After this game, LSU takes the week off for final exams before resuming play next Saturday, Dec. 14, against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the Assembly Center.
