BATON ROUGE — Former LSU placekicker Danny Boyd has signed a one-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team announced on Tuesday.
Boyd, who was playing with the Baton Rouge Blaze a year ago, will serve as the Jaguars’ kicker for both kickoffs and field goals on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Boyd most recently played for the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe where he led his team to the World Bowl title. Boyd kicked field goals of 47, 45 and 38-yards in Berlin’s 26-20 victory over Rhein the World Bowl last summer.
Boyd was a four-year letterwinner for the Tigers from 1996-99. Boyd, who was a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection, mainly handled kickoff duties for the Tigers during his college career. Boyd did connect on 34-of-42 PAT’s and was 2-of-8 on field goals for LSU.
