BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team, trying to correct the little things that cost them a win over Texas A&M on Saturday in Houston, opens a five-game pre-Christmas home stand Tuesday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center against Delaware State of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
The Tigers and Hornets are set for a 7 p.m. tip-off and tickets are available at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office during the day on Tuesday and beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the upper ticket windows of the Assembly Center. There is no television for the game, but the game will be broadcast on radio on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.LSUsports.net.
LSU is 2-1, coming off a 79-77 loss to A&M in the Space City Hoops Classic at Reliant Stadium in Houston, while the Hornets, on the road for every game so far, are 0-3 after dropping decisions at West Virginia (59-46), Dayton (65-38) and most recently, Hartford (70-57).
The Tigers tied a school record for threes in the contest with 13, but missed three front ends of one-and-one free throw opportunities in the final 2:02 of the game, the last coming with 3.3 seconds left and the Tigers down two points.
Collis Temple led LSU with 19 points, while Ronald Dupree had 12. Jaime Lloreda, Torris Bright and Darrel Mitchell had 11 each.
In the Hartford loss, Sergey Stephanenkov from Russia led DSU with a season-high 16 points, including four three-pointers. Aaron Matthews had his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Following the DSU game, LSU has four more home games to complete the pre-Christmas schedule starting with a Saturday afternoon contest with McNeese State. LSU will also meet Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Dec. 14), Prairie View A&M (Dec. 17) and top-ranked Arizona (Dec. 21-ESPN2) prior to the holiday break.
