BATON ROUGE — After a two-week hiatus the LSU cross country team returns to action Saturday, Sept. 28, at its LSU Invitational. Saturday’s race will be the Tigers’ only home event of the season.
The meet will take place at Highland Road Park with the women’s 6K race beginning at 8 a.m. and the men’s 8K starting at 9 a.m.
Twelve teams will comprise the field as Alcorn State, Belhaven College, UL-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Loyola, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Rice, South Alabama, Spring Hill College and Tulane are all scheduled to participate.
Last time out, LSU’s men’s team recorded a fourth-place team finish at the New Mexico-hosted Lobo Invitational. The squad was led by a trio of sophomores, in Jarrett Roche, Matthew Carroll and Ben Schumaker, who all finished among the field’s top-30.
At the same meet the Lady Tigers ran to a seventh-place team finish behind top LSU runner Katie Denton. The sophomore placed 26th in the 6K race with a time of 24:21.
After the LSU Invitational the Tigers will return to action Sat., Oct. 5 when they travel to Terra Haute, Ind., for the Indiana State Invitational.
