NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The LSU Lady Tiger golf team struggled in its first appearance of the 2002 fall season, finishing the first 36 holes of the Vanderbilt-hosted Mason Rudolph Championships Monday at the Legends Course.
The Lady Tigers are 14th in a field of 14 after shooting rounds of 328 and 319 on the first day of the two-day, 54-hole event. LSU is at 71-over par 647, 64 strokes out of first place held by Arizona (296-287 – 583). Host Vanderbilt is in contention in second at 11-over 587, while Tennessee is back in third at 29-over par.
Sophomore Brooke Shelton had the low round of the day for the Tigers with a four-over 76 in the morning round and finished in a tie for 35th after two rounds at 155 (76-79). Isabel Dornellas had the low round of the afternoon session for the Lady Tigers with a 77.
The individual leader of the tournament is Erica Blasberg of Arizona after rounds of 72-69 – 141.
Her three-under total is four shots ahead of Courtney Wood of Vanderbilt at 1-over 145.
