BATON ROUGE — LSU returned to the practice field on Tuesday after taking the last two days off with a two-hour workout at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility.
The Tigers, ranked No. 20 in the nation in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and No. 24 in the Associated Press poll, return to action on Sept. 28 when they host Mississippi State at 11:30 a.m. in Tiger Stadium in a game televised by Jefferson Pilot.
The Tigers, who are coming off a 33-7 win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday, spent Tuesday’s practice session getting back to basics as well as correcting some of the mistakes they made against the RedHawks.
“It was good to get started back up again today,” LSU coach Nick Saban said. “We watched the film of the game and made the corrections that we needed to make. We went through what we would typically do on a Monday just to try and get the players loosened back up and get their mind back into the mental framework that you’d like to have.
“After watching the film of the Miami game, I was very pleased with the intensity, the toughness and the effort that we played with. I think that was probably the difference in the game. I’m hopeful that the players realize what it takes to compete and what it takes for them to be a good football team in terms of the relentless type of effort and attitude.”
The Tigers will practice again on Wednesday and Thursday before taking Friday off. LSU will begin its preparations for Mississippi State with a practice session on Saturday.
