LSU is coming off a successful weekend as the Tigers took first and the Lady Tigers placed third overall at the season-opening Tulane Invitational. Even without their top male runner in sophomore Jimmy Wiggins, the Tigers still had four runners finish in the field’s top-10. Sophomore Ben Schumaker led all collegiate runners in the event finishing second overall in the 5K race.
Despite holding out two of their top runners last week, in senior Marian Burnett and sophomore Katie Denton, the Lady Tigers still posted an impressive third-place finish in their first outing of the season. Sophomore Neisha Bernard-Thomas paced the team in New Orleans recording a fourth-place individual finish in the two-mile run.
Following the UNM Lobo Invitational LSU will take a weekend off before hosting its only home event of the season, the LSU Invitational, Sat., Sept. 28 at Highland Road Park.
