BATON ROUGE — LSU track standout Muna Lee was named one of the NCAA’s “10 Champions in the Making” by Sports Illustrated for Women. Appearing in the September issue, Lee was the only track athlete honored and just one of three juniors to receive the recognition.

In 2002, Lee helped the Lady Tigers to their first NCAA Indoor National Championship since the 1997 season. The junior from Kansas City, Mo. won the 200 meters at the indoor championships posting the second fastest time in NCAA history (22.82). In just two seasons at LSU Lee has already garnered All-America honors 10 times.

Lee has also made an impact at the conference level. A six-time SEC champion, she has won three indoor conference titles and three outdoor conference titles. As a freshman, Lee took home gold in the indoor and outdoor 200 meters, in addition to winning the outdoor 100-meter title. Lee repeated as the indoor 200 meter and outdoor 100 meter champion in 2002 and added the indoor 60 meter conference title to her resume as well.
