SHREVEPORT, La. — The LSU Sports Information Office won seven awards, including three first place awards in the annual Louisiana Sports Writers Association writing contest.
The winners were announced at a banquet at the end of the group’s annual convention in Shreveport-Bossier City. The event was held at the newly completed Sky Club of Independence Stadium, site of the yearly Mainstay Independence Bowl.
Associate SID Melissa Reynaud captured two first place awards, one for best fact sheet of all sports, for her softball fact sheet, while her LSU Women’s Basketball Media Guide, was voted best in Division II which is for all sports with the exception of football, men’s basketball and baseball.
Associate Bill Franques took home first place in Division I Media Guide for the second straight year for his 2002 LSU Baseball Media Guide.
Other placings were: Sr. Associate SID Kent Lowe with second places in both release (for a feature on basketball coach John Brady) and Division II Media Guide (Women’s Golf); and, SID Michael Bonnette won second place in Division I Media Guide (Football) and Fact Sheet (Football).
