Swimming & Diving Adds Two Signees For 2002-03

BATON ROUGE — The LSU swimming and diving program picked up two more commitments for the 2002-03 season, head coach Jeff Cavana announced on Wednesday.

The Tigers signed Ross Hebert of Raceland, La., and Diego Navarro of Sonora, Mexico, the sixth and seventh commitments of the season for LSU. The Tigers also signed four female swimmers and one male swimmer prior to these signings.

Hebert is a product of Archbishop Rummel high school and is a former state champion in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle at the Louisiana State Championships and the Louisiana U.S.S. Age-Group Championships . He was also a Junior National Finalist and his USS coach was Mike Falati at Crescent City Swim Team. His coach at Rummel was Joey Fritscher.

Navarro attended high school in Tucson, Arizona and was a Junior National Qualifier in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard butterfly.

“Both of these young men have improved tremendously over the last two years, and we are glad that they have chosen LSU,” said Cavana. “They both have an enormous amount of talent and they can step in immediately and help out not only in dual-meets, but at the championship level as well.”
