BATON ROUGE — John Brady‘s LSU men’s basketball team was listed this week in ESPN’s Summer Top 50 Division I college basketball teams, coming in at No. 40.
The poll reflects the teams which in July, ESPN.com “realistically have a shot to be in the NCAA Tournament, or so we think.”
LSU is coming off a 19-15 season in which it won seven of its last 11 games and advanced to the second round of the NIT, its second postseason appearance in the last three years. In 1990, the Tigers advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA.
Of LSU, the poll said, “Ronald Dupree (16.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg) didn’t return to Baton Rouge for nothing. He’s got unfinished business to attend to – and it’s about getting John Brady back to the Dance.”
Arizona is the No. 1 team in the poll followed by Big 12 teams Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas in positions two through four. Georgia is the top SEC Team at number seven. Kentucky, as far as other SEC Teams, was chosen eight, Alabama 13, Mississippi State 14, Florida 17, LSU 40 and Ole Miss 45.
