BATON ROUGE — The LSU Sports Information Department picked up yet another publication award on Wednesday when the 2001 volleyball media guide was rated the sixth best in the nation according to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
LSU had garnered attention earlier in the week for its gymnastics and softball media guides, which finished fifth and seventh, respectively.
The volleyball media guide was written and edited by Scott Dean and designed by Jason Feirman. Staff photographer Steve Franz provided all the pictures for the guide.
The cover, mostly in white, featured action pictures of starters Meagan Davis, Meghan Bedford and Jennifer Hampton, along with a picture of Mike the Tiger, LSU’s official mascot.
Nebraska finished first, followed by BYU, Penn State, Texas and Michigan State. In it’s district, LSU finished second, behind the Longhorns.
Media guides are a source of information for media outlets and fellow sports information/media relations offices, as well as a valuable recruiting tool for coaches.
