BATON ROUGE — The 2002 LSU softball media guide placed seventh in the nation as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The 80-page guide was written, compiled and edited by Associate Sports Information Director Melissa Reynaud and student assistant Scott Dean with design and layout by Design Coordinator Marie Brewer. The guide is a complete source of up-to-date information on the 2002 team, as well as archived information and records from the six years of softball at LSU.
“To have our guide place seventh in the national level reflects the quality of work that our athletic department and sports information department produces,” said LSU head coach Yvette Girouard. “As one of the first things that a recruit receives from my staff, the media guide is an important recruiting tool and to have it recognized on a national level is a great reflection on our program.”
The cover featured the Tigers’ 2001 NCAA Region 3 Championship trophy on the field at Don Porter Hall of Fame Stadium, site of the Women’s College World Series, along with the celebration following LSU’s victory over Louisiana-Lafayette to advance to the Tigers’ first WCWS.
Media guides are a source of information for media outlets and fellow sports information/media relations offices, as well as a valuable recruiting tool for coaches.
The Texas softball guide finished first in the nation, followed by Florida State, Nebraska, Washington, Texas A&M and Southern Miss.
Last week, the LSU gymnastics guide was voted fifth in the nation by CoSIDA. In addition, the women’s volleyball guide finished sixth in the nation and the women’s volleyball guide finished eighth in the nation.
The men’s basketball media guide and the 2002 football poster were both ranked third in the district.
The guide, along with those of all 20 varsity sports at LSU, can be seen at LSUsports.net.
