Young Leaves Men’s Basketball Team

BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s basketball coach John Brady announced on Thursday morning that Tiger guard Jue Michael Young has decided to transfer from LSU and the Tiger basketball squad.

“Jue Michael Young has decided to transfer from LSU and probably will enroll in a junior college so he can still maintain two years of eligibility after playing one season of junior college basketball,” said Brady. “We both have talked about what his options should be and right now we both feel this is the best route for him to pursue to continue and try to reach his goals both athletically and academically. We appreciate the contributions he made to our program and wish him much success in the future.”

Young, from Hammond, signed with LSU prior to the 2000-01 season, but was a non-qualifier. He was injured for much of the early part of the 2001-02 season, making his LSU debut on Dec. 30 against Nicholls State. He played in 12 games, starting one, averaging 1.8 points per game and 0.6 rebounds a contest. He averaged 6.3 minutes a contest with a season high of eight points scored in the Nicholls State game.
