Tickets Still Available for NCAA Track & Field Championships

BATON ROUGE — Plenty of good seats still remain for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, to be hosted by LSU at Bernie Moore Stadium from May 29-June 1.

Reserved four-day packages are available for $50 at the LSU Ticket Office, located on the first floor of the LSU Athletic Administration Building, or by calling (225) 578-2184. Packages are also available online by visiting www.lsusports.net. No single session tickets are currently available.

The NCAA Outdoor Championships will mark the first time an NCAA champion has been crowned on the LSU campus in any sport since 1987, the last time the meet came to Baton Rouge. It marks the fourth time that LSU has hosted the event.

The 1987 NCAA Championships are viewed by many as one of the most exciting competitions in the history of the event. 15 stadium records still remain from the last NCAA Championship at Bernie Moore Stadium. In addition, the Lady Tigers won the 1987 title in dramatic fashion, their first of a women?s Division I record 11 consecutive NCAA titles.

The Lady Tiger track and field team remains the only LSU team to ever win an NCAA title at home.

After winning the NCAA Indoor title this past March, the Lady Tigers figure to be on a short list of contenders later this month. The Lady Tigers rank fourth in the women?s poll behind UCLA, USC and South Carolina. The Tigers are currently ranked second in the nation and appear set for a two-team race with defending champion and No.1-ranked Tennessee.
