BATON ROUGE — LSU linebacker Bradie James continues to pile up the pre-season awards as the senior was named to the 2002 Playboy All-America Team.
James, a Monroe, La., native, becomes the second LSU player in as many years to earn a spot on the prestigious team. Last year, tight end Robert Royal was named to the Playboy All-America team.
James has already been listed as one of the nation’s leading candidates for the Bronko Nagurski Award as well as the Lombardi Award. The Nagurski Award goes to the nation’s top defender, while the Lombardi Award goes to the top down lineman or defender who lines up within five yards of the football.
Last year as a junior, James finished second on the squad with 113 total tackles during the regular season on his way to earning First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors. James led LSU with eight tackles for losses and he ranked third on the team with three sacks. James enters his final season with the Tigers with 264 career tackles and 11 sacks.
