BATON ROUGE — LSU went through its final practice before Saturday’s Spring Game with a two-hour workout here Thursday at the LSU Practice Facility.

The Tigers will take Friday off before holding the annual Spring Game at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Tiger Stadium.

“We had a good practice Tuesday and we also had a good practice today,” LSU coach Nick Saban said “I like the attitude of the players. I think it was a little bit better today because it was a little bit cooler. I think we really fought the heat here for the last week or so.”

Saban also said the teams were divided up into the Purple and White squads for Saturday’s game with a draft on Wednesday.

“I was pleased with the way the players went about it,” Saban said. “I think the teams are pretty evenly matched. I think the one offensive team (Purple Team) has a better offensive line. The other team (White Team) has better skill guys, so maybe they’ll be able to throw it more. I think the defensive players are probably pretty evenly split up on the two squads.”

Saban said the game would have a running clock except for the last three minutes of each half. The clock will also stop for penalties, change of position and after scoring plays. Saban also said that only one player can blitz on defense.

“We really try to use the game as a fun game for the players,” Saban said. “We can simplify it for them, let them compete in the game and hopefully make some plays and make it exciting for the fans as well. But we limit what we do quite a bit.”
