BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — LSU men’s golfers Chip Lee and Garrett Prather were named to the 2002 Southeastern Conference Golf Academic Honor Roll by SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer on Thursday in a release.
Lee and Prather, both juniors, were two of 41 athletes named to the list. Lee earned the honor for the second-straight year. Lee carries a 3.37 gpa in Finance, while Prather has a 3.07 gpa in Animal Science.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 grade point average for the past year or their career, be at least a sophomore in classification, and have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree. The 2002 Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2000-01 school year.
Florida topped the list with seven student-athletes named to the list. Alabama, Ole Miss and Kentucky each had six members.
The 2002 SEC Championships will begin on Friday at Sea Island, Ga. The teams will play one round each day with the tournament concluding on Sunday at the Sea Island Golf Club.
