BATON ROUGE — LSU concluded its first week of spring practice with a two-hour session in full pads at the LSU Practice Facility here Thursday.
The Tigers will now take the next 10 days off for spring break. LSU returns to the practice field on Monday, April 8. LSU will have its first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday, April 13.
LSU spent a portion of Thursday’s session working on both team and individual drills as well as concentrating on special teams. LSU also did some seven-on-seven and nine-on-seven work.
“We’ve had four really good days of practice,” LSU coach Nick Saban said. “I’m really pleased with the progress we have made. We’ve started off practice a lot further ahead than we’ve ever started before.
“I think the guys that are at new positions have had a bit of an overload effect from continuing to put new things in, but we area still pleased with each and everyone of those guys as they continue to develop.”
Saban said that the Tigers haven’t had any injuries through their first four practices.
“No injuries so far,” Saban said. “We have some guys practicing in red jerseys (non-contact jerseys) that went into the spring a little hobbled. Michael Clayton has done more and more every day. Reggie Robinson is practicing with a red jersey so he hasn’t had any contact. He’s trying to get back into the swing of things. Demetrius Hookfin and Travis Moses are practicing in red jerseys as well. They’ve been able to do a lot of things as they try to get healed.”
The annual LSU Spring Game is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th in Tiger Stadium.
