Sneed Again Named SEC Pitcher of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — For the second consecutive week, LSU senior Britni Sneed has been named the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday by the conference office.

In her only start of the week, Sneed no-hit Tennessee in a 5-0 Tiger victory in Knoxville. She rung up 16 Lady Vol batters while walking only one in the game.

The no-hitter was her second of the season and the sixth of her career. It also marked the third consecutive time Sneed had no-hit Tennessee.

Last season, she hurled a no-hitter and then combined with Sarah Meadors to throw a perfect game in a single weekend against the Lady Vols. Sneed pitched four of the five innings in that game.

For the season, Sneed is now 9-4 with a 1.38 earned-run average while her 141 strikeouts place her in the top three in the conference.

She has thrown a shutout in six consecutive starts and has 10 or more strikeouts in five straight starts.

Sneed and LSU return to action on Tuesday when they host a Mississippi State in a doubleheader that begins at 6 p.m., at Tiger Park.
