NIT Ticket Sales Surpass 6,000

BATON ROUGE — LSU Athletic Ticket Manager Brian Broussard said Saturday that ticket sales for Tuesday’s Owens Corning National Invitation Tournament game between LSU and Ball State has passed the 6,000 mark as of 3 p.m. when the ticket office closed for the day.

The LSU men’s basketball team (19-14) and Ball State (22-11) will meet in the second round of the 40-team tournament Tuesday at 7 p.m. CST at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on the Baton Rouge campus. The winner of that game will meet the winner of the UNLV-South Carolina game later in the week for the right to go to the tournament semifinals at Madison Square Garden in New York.

There was a line of students and adults outside the LSU Athletic Ticket Office when the windows opened for sales to the general public at 10 a.m Saturday and that line remained constant outside the building until just after Noon. Ticket sales remained steady both in line and on the telephone through the close of business at 3 p.m.

Tickets will go back on sale Sunday from 1-5 p.m. both at the Ticket Office and by phone at 225-578-2184 or 1-800-960-8587. Tickets are $15, $14 and $12 for the game with LSU students able to purchase tickets for $4.

Besides Sunday’s sale times, the ticket office, which opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, will stay open until 7 p.m. Monday evening to accommodate those fans wishing to purchase tickets. Those season ticket holders who placed orders this past Wednesday through Friday are encouraged to come by the ticket office Sunday or Monday to pick up your tickets to avoid long lines at the Assembly Center on game day.
