Boudreaux Again Named SEC Gymnast of the Week

BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Beth Boudreaux became the first woman to win the SEC Gymnast of the Week honors twice this season on Monday, as she received the honor following the Tigers’ record-setting victory over Kentucky last weekend.

Boudreaux helped the Tigers to a school record overall score of 197.500 by winning the bars and beam titles.

The Dutchtown, La., native opened with a career-best score of 9.975 on bars to help the Tigers set another school record, as they combined to score a 49.650 on the event. Boudreaux later helped the Tigers come up with their second best effort of the season on beam, as her 9.925 led the way to a 49.325.

The senior co-captain then went on to finish third in the floor exercise with a 9.875, just off her season best, as the Tigers put a punctuation mark on the finest night in the program’s history with a 49.375 on floor.

The two titles for Boudreaux gave her a combined five for the season, tied for the most on the Tiger roster, and 19 for her career, most for any active member of the team.

The SEC Gymnast of the Week honor was LSU’s third this season, the most of any SEC school and the second for Boudreaux, who won the honor after the Tigers’ upset of Alabama on Feb. 8.

Boudreaux will try to help her Tigers take down a No. 1 team for the second this season and the fourth time in her career this Friday night when LSU travels to top-ranked Georgia.
