Smith Named LSWA Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE — After being named the SEC Player of the Week, Lady Tiger Aiysha Smith also picked up Louisiana Player of the Week honors on Tuesday as announced by the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association.

The junior from Detroit, Mich., tied her career high with 23 points on the road at No. 6 Vanderbilt and recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds against No. 9 South Carolina. For the week she shot over 55 percent form the field and 83 percent from the free-throw line and made her first career three-point basket.

Smith has now scored in double-figures in all 23 games this season and leads the team in scoring, rebounding, steals and field-goal percentage. She is also tied for 11th for all-time in steals by a junior in LSU history, needing just one steal to break into the top 10.

This is the first LSWA Player of the Week honor for a Lady Tiger this season

LSU will close out the regular-season home schedule on Thursday against Mississippi State at 7 p.m. in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
