BATON ROUGE — LSU’s Beth Boudreaux became the second Tiger in as many weeks to earn SEC Gymnast of the Week honors Tuesday after helping LSU to a victory over then-fourth-ranked Alabama this past weekend.
Boudreaux tied for the title on bars with a season-best score of 9.95, as the Tigers matched their school record with a score of 49.550. The senior from Dutchtown, La., then added scores of 8.85 on beam and 9.825 on floor, as the Tigers upset a top five team for the second straight week.
The honor is the second of her career for Boudreaux, as she was also honored last season after winning the all-around in the Tigers’ victory over Florida.
LSU teammate Marina Degteva earned the honor last week after the Tigers upset then-No. 1 Utah. It marks the second time in school history LSU has had the SEC Gymnast of the Week in consecutive weeks, as Shanyn MacEachern earned the honor in back-to-back weeks in 2000, ironically both after upsets of Utah and Alabama.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday night for their fifth consecutive dual meet with a ranked opponent, as they travel to Colorado to take on 15th-ranked Denver.
