NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Brendan Plavich and Chuck Moore scored 18 points each and Vanderbilt used the three-point shot to rally past LSU 68-63 Wednesday.
The Commodores (14-8, 4-5 in the Southeastern Conference) connected on its final eight 3-pointers in the second half and snapped a two-game losing streak.
LSU (12-10, 2-7) dropped its fifth straight game and 10th straight road game in the SEC.
The biggest three-pointer for Vanderbilt came from sophomore Russell Lakey, who saw his first action in six games due to a foot injury. Lakey’s three-pointer with 50 seconds left just beat the shot clock buzzer and gave Vanderbilt a 65-60 lead.
LSU freshman Antonio Hudson had a chance to pull the Tigers close with 20 seconds left, but he missed three free throws following a 3-point attempt.
LSU led 60-57 with 2:47 remaining but was scoreless until Ronald Dupree hit a 3-pointer with less than one second to go.
Vanderbilt connected on 11 of 22 3-pointers for the game, with Moore and Plavich hitting four each.
For LSU, Dupree scored 13 points and Thomas Davis, Torris Bright and Brad Bridgewater scored 12 each.
The Tigers hit just 4 of 11 free throws.
