BATON ROUGE — LSU swimmer Ross Buffington was named the Southeastern Conference Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Buffington, a sophomore from Seattle, Wash., won two events in last Saturday’s meet versus Florida State, Louisiana-Monroe and Rice in Baton Rouge. Buffington won both the 1650-freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. He swam the 1650-freestyle in 15:42.68 and he finished the 500 in a time of 4:32.48. Buffington is LSU’s school record holder in the 1650.
