BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s tennis team looks to open its dual-match season with a 4-0 record for the fifth-straight year on Sunday, as the Lady Tigers host the Louisiana-Monroe Lady Indians at 1 p.m. at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.
“We need to continue to build momentum going into conference play,” said LSU head coach Tony Minnis. “We have a very tough schedule ahead of us and we need to begin playing our best tennis. Louisiana-Monroe is a very improved team and we can’t take them lightly. We need to go out there and compete as if we were playing an SEC team.”
The Lady Tigers head into Sunday’s contest with a perfect 3-0 overall record. LSU picked up wins over Centenary, Southern and Purdue last week in its opening weekend of dual-match play.
Louisiana-Monroe comes to Baton Rouge on Sunday with an overall record of 2-1. The Lady Indians posted victories over both Alcorn State and Delta State last week, after falling to Alabama, 7-0, in their season opener.
LSU leads the all-time series against Louisiana-Monroe, 18-0. Last season, the Lady Tigers dropped ULM, 6-1.
The 28th-ranked LSU women’s tennis team will take on the Louisiana-Monroe Lady Indians on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the W.T. “Dub” Robinson Tennis Stadium.
