BATON ROUGE — The LSU Tigers are excited about returning home to face the University of Tennessee Wednesday night in men’s basketball at the Maravich Assembly Center.
Well they should, as they Tigers come home to a building in which they have won 11 straight games dating back to last year and both of their SEC games this season against Arkansas and Auburn.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. There is no live television for the event, but the game will be broadcast by the Pelican Sports Network at 9 p.m. on Fox 44 in the Baton Rouge area (Cable Channel 6). The radio broadcast will be carried on the LSU Sports Network and on the Internet at
Tickets for the game are available at $10 each during the day at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office and beginning 90 minutes before tipoff at the Maravich Assembly Center box office.
Halftime of the contest will feature an on-court matchup between All-American softball pitcher Britni Sneed and All-SEC LSU baseball player Wally Pontiff. Sneed will try to strike out Pontiff using indoor softball and SEC officials will be there to call the balls and strikes.
The Tigers are coming off losses at both Ole Miss and Mississippi State last week, playing the Ole Miss game without Collis Temple III who has a partially torn tendon in his right foot. Temple started the game against Mississippi State but was ineffective. He is listed as probable for the game on Wednesday.
“Our team has got to get back to playing a little better,” said LSU Coach John Brady of his 12-7, 2-4 Tigers. “The game against Mississippi State we just got beat in ever phase of the game. Vincent Yarbrough and Marcus Haislip are two of the better players in this league. Tennessee has tremendous size as well. We have them at home and we’ve played well at home this year so hopefully that trend will continue. We don’t match up very well with Tennessee inside, but we’ll just see what we can do.”
LSU is also home on Saturday of this week for a 7 p.m. contest against Alabama.
