Tigers Look to Overcome Road Woes at State

STARKVILLE, Miss. — The LSU men’s basketball team will hopefully find answers for ending its road woes at the place it last won a road game, the Humphrey Coliseum, here Saturday when the Tigers take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The game is set for a 4 p.m. start time and will be televised as part of the SEC-TV package presented by Fox Sports Net. The game will be seen in Baton Rouge on Cable Channel 37. The game will be broadcast on radio on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.lsusports.net.

LSU is on an eight-game road losing streak in the lead with the last win coming one year ago at Mississippi State as the two teams split games on each other’s court a year ago. LSU comes into the game off a 70-55 loss at Ole Miss on Wednesday, owning a record of 12-6 and 2-3. The Bulldogs were off on Wednesday and come in with a 15-4 overall mark and 2-3 in the league.

Mississippi State’s two SEC wins have both been home games and both have gone to overtime against Kentucky and Tennessee.

LSU’s lineup and strategy remains in a bit of a flux depending on the status of guard Collis Tendon III who has battled a series of injuries since Dec. 15, the most recent, the discovery of a partially torn tendon in his right foot on Monday. Temple did not play or make the trip to Oxford on Tuesday and Wednesday, but did practice briefly by himself at the opposite end of the floor from the team on Thursday.

The team was expected to have an hour practice on Friday before the bus trip to Starkville and any decision on Temple’s status was still up in the air.

If Temple does not play, the Tigers will need continued big play inside from Brad Bridgewater, who has had double figure scoring games in each of the last two conference contests, to go with the scoring of Ronald Dupree and Torris Bright.

After the Mississippi State game, LSU returns home for two games, first facing Tennessee at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and playing Alabama on Saturday at 7p.m. Tickets for the two contests are available at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office.
