BATON ROUGE — LSU women’s soccer player Rachel Cohen was officially named to the 2001 Jewish All-America team on Tuesday, as the Tigers’ sophomore was named one of the top midfielders in the nation.
“This is a huge honor for Rachel,” said LSU head coach George Fotopoulos. “It is always a huge accomplishment to be named to an All-America team and I know that Rachel definitely deserves the honor. She’s one of our hardest workers, and I’m proud of the way that she represents both our team and our University.”
Cohen, a native of Lafayette, La., proved to be the Tigers’ most versatile player during the 2001 season as the sophomore finished second on the team in both goals and assists. LSU’s daring midfielder notched four goals during the season and added five key assists. Cohen also finished third on the team in points with 13.
