BATON ROUGE — The LSU men’s basketball team hopes the home magic continues to rub off an them Saturday when it hosts the Auburn Tigers in a 1 p.m. Southeastern Conference contest at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The game will be regionally televised throughout the Southeast by Jefferson Pilot Sports. The radio broadcast will be carried on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.lsusports.net.
Tickets for the game, at $10 each, are still available at the Maravich Assembly Center ticket office beginning at approximately 11:30 a.m.
The LSU team puts a 10-game win streak on the line, dating back to the final SEC game of a year ago at home against nationally-ranked Ole Miss, against the Tigers, the ninth-longest win streak in the 30 years of the Maravich Assembly Center. LSU is 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the league, coming off a 102-70 loss at Florida. LSU won its only home game in the league this year, a 75-69 triumph over Arkansas this past Sunday.
Auburn is 9-6 and 1-3 in the SEC, coming off a loss at Vanderbilt on Wednesday.
“Auburn needs a win and they will come in here ready to play,” said LSU coach John Brady. “We just couldn’t stop Florida. That was our biggest program Wednesday night. We just couldn’t stop them at all. No defense we had worked. But our team will play better at home.”
LSU’s starting lineup is in question going into the game with Collis Temple III suffering a hip pointer in the game against Florida. If he can’t go, it is expected that freshman Antonio Hudson from Grambling will take his place in a lineup which includes Torris Bright, Ronald Dupree, Brad Bridgewater and Jermaine Williams.
LSU needs a win to even its league record before going on the road next week to Ole Miss on Wednesday and Mississippi State Saturday.
Also on the bill Saturday as part of the halftime activities will be Lou Mack, a two-time world champion frisbee dog trainer, and his dogs (Air Max, Kirby the Canine Comet and Buddy the Wonder Dog) will perform.
