BATON ROUGE — The three-time defending Southeastern Conference champion LSU softball team will host “Pick a Seat” day at Tiger Park on Saturday morning. The event is open to the public and gives fans a chance to purchase season tickets for the 2002 season.
The event kicks off at 11 a.m. when fans will have a chance to pick the seat of their choice for season tickets. Representatives from the LSU ticket office will be on hand to sell the ticket packages priced at $50. The team will hold a one-hour scrimmage starting at 11:30 a.m. Fans will then get a chance to meet the team and eat free jambalaya.
The 2002 schedule kicks off with the Tiger Classic on Feb. 8 at Tiger Park when LSU hosts Jackson State at 2 p.m. and DePaul at 6 p.m. in the first day of the three-day tournament. LSU will host nine non-conference games, 15 SEC games and two tournaments this season.
The 2001 softball team was the most successful in school history, advancing to the program’s first ever College World Series and finishing the season ranked third nationally. This year’s team features All-American pitchers Britni Sneed and Kristin Schmidt, a transfer from Notre Dame, and All-SEC selections Christy Connor and Trena Peel.
