Lindsly Named Men’s Golf Assistant Coach

BATON ROUGE — Blaine Lindsly has been named assistant men’s golf coach at LSU, head coach Greg Jones announced on Tuesday.

Lindsly, 35, a native of Baton Rouge was a first assistant golf pro at the Country Club of Louisiana since November, 2000. Lindsly is a 1991 graduate of LSU with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. Lindsly attended the United States Sports Academy in Daphane, Ala., and received a master’s degree in sports medicine.

“This is a very significant move for our program to hire an assistant coach,” said Jones. “Blaine is a Baton Rouge native, which I think is very important, and he knows a lot of our players and has a good feel for our program.”

Lindsly also interned at the Picardy Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation Center in May, 1993. Lindsly played eight events on the Hooters Tour in 1999 and participated on the Emerald Coast/Lonestar Tour in 1998-99.

Lindsly attended Redemptorist high school and played golf, basketball and baseball for four years.

“This is a move that will benefit recruiting tremendously, it is a move that gives our program a chance to grow instead of just maintaining,” Jones said.

The Tigers open their spring season on Feb. 9-10 at the Gator Invitational at Gainesville, Fla.
