BATON ROUGE — LSU officials traveled to the Sugar Bowl office in New Orleans on Monday to pick up the 15,000 tickets allotted to the Tigers for the Jan. 1, 2002, BCS game against Illinois.
LSU season ticket holders have until 7 p.m. on Tuesday to submit their Sugar Bowl ticket application. Ticket holders will be limited on the number of tickets they can purchase. The number of tickets and the price of the tickets that season tickets holders can purchase will be determined later this week.
Meanwhile, lines at the LSU ticket office were long and steady all day on Monday. Phone calls and faxes to the ticket office were almost non-stop as well. Season ticket holders are reminded that they can drop off their ticket application in the drop box located just outside the ticket office without having to wait in line.
Tickets prices for the New Year’s Day game are $95, $75, and $65.
Student tickets for the Sugar Bowl contest will go on sale on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the LSU ticket office. LSU students can purchase one ticket per ID card and the tickets will not be discounted. There is a maximum of two ID cards per student. There will be 1,500 student tickets available, which comes out of LSU’s allotment of 15,000.
