BATON ROUGE — For the third time this week, LSU wide receiver Josh Reed has been named All-America, this time by ABC Sports Online which announced it’s first and second teams on Wednesday evening.
Reed, a 5-11, 200-pounder from Rayne High School in Rayne, La., has set numerous school and Southeastern Conference records and has one more game on Saturday to continue to climb in NCAA history in several categories.
With one more 100-yard game against Tennessee in the SEC Championship game this weekend, Reed will tie the NCAA record for 100-yard games in a season with 11. With a typical big game Saturday against the Vols, he also has a chance to move into the Top 5 in single-season receiving yards and into the Top 25 in career receiving yards.
Reed leads the nation in receiving yards per game (152.7), a mark that will crush the 32-year-old SEC record set by Carlos Alvarez of Florida.
In the most productive receiving game in SEC history, Reed caught 19 passes for 293 yards to lead the Tigers to a 35-21 victory over Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Reed is joined by fellow Biletnikoff finalist Lee Evans of Wisconsin on the first team. The Biletnikoff Award will be announced tonight on ESPN.
