BATON ROUGE — The LSU swimming and diving team is ranked in the College Swim Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll for the second straight week.
“We are very happy to be ranked in the top 25 for the second-straight week”, said LSU head coach Jeff Cavana. “This is a tribute to all our athletes and how hard they have worked all season.”
The men are ranked 25th this week, and the women are 23rd. The women were 22nd and the men were 24th in the Nov. 15 poll. Stanford is number one in both polls this week. Four fellow Southeastern Conference teams are ranked in the women’s poll with the Tigers, and six SEC teams are ranked in the men’s poll.
The Florida men are ranked 13th, which is LSU’s next opponent. Florida and LSU square off at the LSU Natatorium on January 17, 2002 at 6 p.m. in a men’s only meet.
The LSU men placed second at the 2001 Nike Cup last month, The Tigers last meet, and the women finished third. 10 Tiger athletes made “B” Cuts of the 2001 NCAA Qualifying Standards in the meet Nov. 15-17 at Chapel Hill, N.C.
