Football Places 10 on SEC Academic Honor Roll

BATON ROUGE — LSU placed 10 members of the football team on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a 3.0 grade point average for the past year or for their career, be a sophomore in academic classification, and have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree.

Heading the list of Tigers on the academic honor roll include starting linebackers Trev Faulk (3.25 grade point average in Marketing) and Bradie James (3.0 gpa in sociology), starting offensive tackle Rodney Reed (4.0 in accounting) and punter Donnie Jones (3.22 gpa in general business).

Other Tigers on the honor roll include: placekicker Kris Kessler (3.28 gpa in zoology), placekicker Chad Lewis (4.0 gpa in marketing), and deep snapper Wendell York (3.41 gpa in accounting).

Kessler is on the squad for the fourth straight year, while Faulk, James, Jones, Reed and York are all on the honor roll for the second straight year.

The Tigers also had three former players earn a spot on the honor roll. Charles Thomas and Roger Williams, who both finished their eligibility last year, both made the list, while Bob Wynne, who had his career cut short by an injury, earned a spot on the squad with a 4.0 grade point average in history.
