Temple Named SEC Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE — LSU junior forward Collis Temple III was named the SEC Player of the Week on Monday for his two back-to-back 20-plus point games against Towson (Nov. 28) and Northwestern State (Dec. 2).

Against Towson, Temple made 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) shots, totaling 24 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists. Temple also scored 24 points versus Northwestern State on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. He also totaled 13 rebounds, four assists and two steals.

He averaged 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals for the week. He also shot 17-of-64 (.654) from the field and was 6-of-9 (66.7 from behind the arc in both games.

This mark’s Temple’s first SEC Player of the Week honor and the first for LSU since Brian Beshara earned the award on Feb. 14, 2000.

The Tigers take on Louisiana Lafayette Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center.
