Tigers Return to Mainland Action Against Towson

BATON ROUGE — The LSU Tigers, with not much chance to recover from a long trip home from Hawaii, return to action Wednesday night at the Maravich Assembly Center against Towson University.

The 7 p.m. game is the first of three at home for LSU in the next seven days before the break for semester exams.

Tickets for the contest are on sale at the LSU Athletic Ticket Office during the day and beginning two hours prior to game time at the Maravich Assembly Center. There will be no television for the contest, but the game will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge) and on the Internet at www.lsusports.net.

The Tigers are 4-1 overall, 2-1 on the three-game trip to Hilo for the Big Island Invitational. LSU concluded the event with an 84-54 win over Mercer to capture the consolation championship of the event. Towson is 1-2 entering the contest.

“I thought we played our best (in Hawaii) in the second half against Mercer,” LSU coach John Brady said after practice on Tuesday. “We shot the ball well. We rebounded the ball better. Torris Bright had some great stats (18 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds, 1 turnover) for a point guard against anybody. We had a good practice (Tuesday). We emphasized listening and doing what needs to be done to win games against quality opposition.”

LSU will go with its normal lineup of Torris Bright and Collis Temple III at guards with Brad Bridgewater, Ronald Dupree and Jermaine Williams at the forwards. Towson comes into the game off a 91-40 loss at Georgetown on Saturday.

Following this game, LSU will play Northwestern State, an NCAA tournament participant a year ago, in the back half of a doubleheader on Sunday. LSU officials Tuesday announced that game would begin no earlier than 4:30 p.m. LSU then plays the back end of an LSU-Louisiana Lafayette doubleheader on Tuesday with the women at 4:30 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m.
