BATON ROUGE — The basketball season kicks off Saturday night at 7 p.m. for the LSU men’s basketball team as the Tigers take on Campbell University at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Tickets for the Tigers and Camels will be on sale for $10 at the Assembly Center box office beginning two hours prior to tipoff. There is no television coverage for the game, but the game will be broadcast on the LSU Sports Network (Eagle 98.1 FM in Baton Rouge).

Live stats and the broadcast are also available on the Internet at the LSU web site.

The Tigers won both their exhibition games, 78-71 over Global Sports on Nov. 5 and 85-51 over the Czech Select team on Nov. 12. Collis Temple III had 18 points in both games for LSU and Ronald Dupree had double figures in both points and rebounds in both contests. He had 14 a season ago as a sophomore, the second best total in the league.

LSU is going with four players who ended up starting the majority of the Southeastern Conference games a season ago: Torris Bright, Temple and Jermaine Williams will start at the three guard positions, while Dupree will be back at his forward position. At the other forward position will be New Roads junior Brad Bridgewater, who will make his first career start after sitting out all last season rehabbing from a torn left ACL.

Bridgewater averaged 10 points and seven rebounds in the two exhibition games. Campbell, from Buies Creek, N.C., of the Atlantic Sun Conference (formerly the Trans American Athletic Conference), won its only exhibition game, 83-62, on Nov. 1.

Billy Lee is in his 17th season as the head coach at Campbell and the Camels are led by first-time pre-season Atlantic Sun selection Adam Fellers.
