BATON ROUGE — The LSU volleyball team moved up to third place in the latest NCAA South Region poll, it was announced Thursday.
The Tigers, previously sixth in the region after reaching a then-season high of fourth, now hold the highest spot for an LSU team since the 1992 season.
Florida held onto the top spot while South Carolina was second. Arkansas fell to fourth and Alabama slipped to fifth as the Southeastern Conference dominated the top half of the 10-team list.
“I think this puts us in very good position to reach the NCAA Tournament right now,” said LSU coach Fran Flory, who guided her Tigers to the most conference wins since 1992 this year. “When the committee looks at this conference and decides to take three teams, we are definitely in that group.”
The Tigers are the fourth seed in the SEC Tournament which begins Friday in Knoxville, Tenn. They face Alabama in the first round.
