BATON ROUGE — The LSU Athletic Department announced on Wednesday that Southern University students, faculty and staff will be able to buy $5 discounted tickets for Monday’s basketball game between the LSU Tigers and the Jaguars in the Maravich Assembly Center.
The Athletic Ticket Office will sell a maximum of two upper level tickets at half-price to anyone with a current Southern University student, faculty or staff ID card. The normally priced $10 tickets will sell for $5 each.
Tickets on game night will go on sale at the Assembly Center beginning two hours prior to tipoff. Game time Monday is 7 p.m.
This is the first time the two cross-town schools have met in men’s basketball since the 1997-98 season and a similar promotion that night allowed many Southern fans to be a part of this game of city-wide interest.
This will be the fifth time the teams have met since the first meeting in December 1985 with LSU winning all four games, but only one of the games has LSU had more than an 11-point margin at the end. The contest will be the season opener for the Jaguars, while LSU opens its season Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Maravich Assembly Center against Campbell University.
