FORT WORTH, Texas — Tami Botts and Amy McIlhaney won once on Saturday before falling in the round of 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest Region Championships, hosted by TCU.
Botts and McIlhaney, seeded ninth, came out early and beat Jo Keene and Anne Rapp of Houston, 8-6.
However, the duo ran into fifth-seeded Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez of TCU in the third round and fell 8-4.
“Amy and Tami gave a good effort this weekend,” said LSU coach Tony Minnis. “They played very well together yesterday and then again today. Unfortunately, they just met up with a better team this afternoon.”
Bott, McIlhaney and Rocio Fantili were all ousted from singles play on Friday.
