FORT WORTH, Texas — The LSU women?s tennis team competes in the Omni Hotels Southwest Championships this weekend on the campus of TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Lady Tigers are represented by three players in the main singles draw, including 12th-seeded Tami Botts. She will square off with Arkansas? Iliana Pacheco in Friday?s first round.

Sophomore Rocio Fantili, seeded 20th in the singles draw, faces Danielle Lee of Texas A&M in her first match. Amy McIlhaney, LSU?s third entrant, meets seventh-seeded Katrin Gaber of TCU in round one.

Botts and McIlhaney team up to form the ninth-seeded doubles team in the draw.

“Tami and Rocio have a good shot at moving through this draw and gaining some quality wins,” said LSU coach Tony Minnis. “Amy has a tough first-round opponent, but it is a match she is capable of winning.”

LSU is one of 26 schools with players being represented in the 64-player main singles draw. Arkansas is the only other Southeastern Conference school in the tournament. Schools from Louisiana competing include Centenary, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana and Tulane.

Second-round singles matches will also take place on Friday afternoon with doubles beginning on Saturday.
